Intersectionality project
These pieces were designed as a part of a project on social justice (activist) Artwork; as a visual representation for the term ‘intersectionality’.
Intersectionality is defined as:
“the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage”
(Oxford Languages, 2023)
Having Written on the media representation of refugees, immigrants and migrants for my anthropological dissertation at university, these pieces corresponded with these topics, conveying the systematic discrimination that refugees and migrants face within both law, and media representation.
This is an extremely important topic which I am extremely passionate about, yet can only hope that my work touches the surface of.
