Taking up Space

This piece was centred around themes of taking up space as a part of a self-led project on social justice in art.

Women, particularly women of colour, are not permitted to take up space within both the workplace and the world itself. People of colour are also frequently excluded from green space & environmentalism both by the media and the intersection of class, race and access to green space. (see environmentalist Leah Thomas’ work).

The use of pink was also a deliberate point to follow these themes of reclamation, and challenging gender roles.
